How To Sell Products Without A Website

by Sean Rasmussen on September 21, 2009

This is the next video from my series of Darling Harbour Video’s. Click on the play button and you’ll learn how to sell products without a website.

The video is currently offline, it'll be back shortly.

After you watch it please leave me a comment below and let me know what you learned.

Watch the 2 video’s below to get more detailed information on the strategies discussed between Alexi and myself in the above video.

How To Sell Products Without A Website

So, this is what I covered in this video. To start with, there is only a 2 step process to consider and that is simply to:

  1. Forget about having a website (for the purpose of this exersize).
  2. Get an affiliate link for your chosen product (remember the 5 step criteria for choosing a product).

VIDEO: How To Hide Your Affiliate Link

In this video, I will show you how to hide your affiliate link. It is also known as “cloaking” your link (shown in the book: Year Of The Affiliate)

The video is currently offline, it'll be back shortly.

VIDEO: Free Classified Sites

On this video is an example of using a Free Classified Site such as Adland Pro. Classified sites are a great tool if you want to sell products without a website.

The video is currently offline, it'll be back shortly.

This is the process shown above:

  1. Locate your affiliate link.
  2. Locate a Free ad site.
  3. Sign up.
  4. Write and submit your ad.

In addition, as promised, here are some examples of Free Classified Sites:

  1. AdlandPro
  2. ICTW.AdPost
  3. Post Your Add For Free Forum (this is a forum, but works the same way)

You will learn more about affiliate marketing in the next video.

See you soon.

Hi Adrian
It’s a pretty open ended question. If you watch all the video’s, including the coming ones, it will make more sense. Especially when you watch the 6th video.

It’s selling a product and marketing it online. Same as in “normal” life it can be easy (when you know what you are doing) or very hard (if you don’t have a clue).

It does work as Amazon and other companies demonstrate on a daily basis, but you need to learn about your market and approach it correctly.

Sean is very good in showing you the ropes :)

Thanks, Sean,

Is my affiliate code for your book back in May still valid? Actually, do affiliate codes get expired usually?

The idea of using free classified site is a great idea. What do you think of craigslist? I used it for garage sales for my friends but it never occurred to me to sell products there. I used ebay sometimes but find it hard to make money with both ebay and paypal fees.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 22, 2009 at 6:38 am

Hi Tess
Your affiliate link doesn’t expire. It is still fine.
I have never used CraigsList, but then I was never a big user of ebay either.

Hi Sean,
Great work with the information and videos mate. It’s fantastic that you truely want to help people and you are providing excellent free stuff. I have a couple of questions if that’s ok.
1. When someone clicks on your link and they don’t buy straight away but head back to the website sometime in the future and buy? can it still be tracked as your customer? And what if the customer repeats a purchase in the future? Do you still get commission from future sales if they didn’t use your link?
2. With the classified ads, how often should you resubmit them to get reasonable results? And would it be worth paying the $9.95 to have them automatically resubmit for you regularly?
Thanks Sean. Look forward to your reply.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 22, 2009 at 5:42 am

Hi Terry,
A1. This will depend on the affiliate program, and something they will specify in their terms when signing up for it. I’ve known some to only allow the commission if they buy straight away, while others may keep track of it for 7 – 30 days, then you get those that store the information indefinitely. The same applies for future sales, it will depend on the individual affiliate programs.

A2. You can resubmit your ads as often as you like, just keep track of your results and be sure to optimise them as often as possible. If you feel that is worth paying for the automatic resubmit then sure, otherwise having to resubmit yourself will give you the chance to optimise your ad.

Sean, this video clips training session is fantastic! I have been recently to seminars on the subject of e-book writing, membership websites and other ways of making internet income, costing me thousands of dollars! You are giving away the same sort of info right here – totally free!!! Could somebody slap me, or something! I just wish to make sure I am not dreaming here! THANK YOU!

This is great. Never knew you could use classified ads to promote a affiliate product. I wish there was some easier way to ‘mass’ market rather than having to resubmit your ad every day. But its a start I guess.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 22, 2009 at 6:03 am

Hi Cemil,
There is sometimes the option to have it automatically resubmit for you for a small fee, can be worth it in some cases.

Hi Sean,
Long time no speak. Well, actually, I’ve been following you as usual but from the back of the bus, so to speak. I’ve read your leaked YOTA and loved it so much I had trouble getting to sleep a couple of nights because I felt so excited by the content. I think you have supplied a wealth of information and out of the generosity of your own heart and I know that people would need to pay for this sort of information provided by others in your field.
I think it has really helped to have these last couple of videos as there is so much you tell us that you begin to wonder where to start in terms of…do you write the article first or sign up to squidoo (For example) first or do a social network site first, or what is the best first step.
I already have a couple of articles in mind and I am constantly thinking about what else I can write, and I’m in the throes of keyword research for one of those ideas. I’m keen to throw up a classified just to see what happens and I do have to say that I do not think the videos could be any simpler but then I have been around the internet for nearly 11 years now even though affiliate marketing is new to me. As you say, experiment with the ads, keep that determination (Wallace Wattles style) and enjoy the ride.

I am grateful for your teachings and the more I know the more I realise I don’t know. How wonderful that is!!
Warm regards, Eileen.

Hi Sean

Great videos. I have just starting using Adlandpro. Will see how it goes.
I think Craigslist should be a great resource due to their large amounts of traffic. Just a matter of mastering it.
One thing your readers may not be aware of is the ability to use Ebay to post paid adds. At $10 a month it is a cheap option.

Look forward to the next video

Hi Sean, with the ad sites where we can post links, who are the people that go to these. Reason being is I tried that with a website and I was inundated with approx 200 people requesting me to look at their ad. I had no one go and look at mine. I didnt use the ones you stated. Can you explain how that works. I myself would never go to ad websites to look for anything. I hope my question or concern is clear. Appreciate your input. Bernie

Sean Rasmussen September 22, 2009 at 7:22 pm

Hi Bernie,
These sites are in a sense a directory of products and services, so it is the same people that would use the Yellowpages or read junk mail.
All you need to worry about though is that it works ;)

Sean nice presentation but, with clickbank URLs you can still found out the Product ID even if you use a URL shortener. I should know I’ve done it. I don’t know about other affiliate networks.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 23, 2009 at 7:57 am

Yes, the point is to hide the Affiliate Link for immediate detection and the affiliate link won’t be visible for the eye until you follow it.

Hi, Sean,

Getting up at 3am…you obviously work very hard. How many hours did you spend on Internet Marketing when you first started?

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 22, 2009 at 4:44 pm

:) Not as much as I have in the past few days answering comments, emails and making video’s. It’s all good.
When I first started, I spent 2-3 hours a day. It is scalable to how much time you want to put in – to how much you get out.
Bear in mind, I didn’t have someone like myself to get this information from.
I’m confident I will make a huge difference to a lot of people starting now :D

Greetings Sean,

Over the last few weeks your information has found it’s way into my email box. I did not look at it but I did not delete it either. In the meantime I under took a day seminar with Geekversity, at completion they asked everyone to undertake their full training which cost between $7,500 and $9,500. Surprise surprise when I opened your email and found the same kind of information for free. I would very much like to apply for your scholarship but it maybe a little late to complete all the requirements. I have so many ideas now I don’t know where to start.
Thank you for all the free information, you are a Master Marketeer!!

Hi Eva,
There is still time to apply for the scholarship, we are still accepting applications until this Sunday night (tonight). Hope to find your application.

Hi Sean,
I really like the design of your “yearoftheaffiliate.com” site. It’s easy on the eyes (no clutter, yay!).

I also find the headlines very intrigued however I am experiencing problems watching the videos, e.g: “Making Money with No Website” – It took about 10 mins to start, then it stopped after 5 seconds, then it started again for 5 secs and stopped again… arghhhh!! I am running Windows Vista on my laptop with wireless internet connection provided by “Three”. Do I need anything else installed in order to watch these videos without a hitch? I was just wondering if the text script versions of these videos are available?

Oh! is there a story behind the two “Flying Dragons” ? They look really powerful ….. yet a bit scary for me though :) .

Best Wishes,
Oanh.

PS: I hope there will be more YOTA scholarships offerred in the future! (cos great things need to be nurtured and kept alive, right! :)

Hi Sean,
I’m slowly learning to fit the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle together. There is a lot to learn but it is enjoyable.

I’m slightly amused also. I believe that you can only help someone under your conditions and not under the conditions of the person who wants your help. Same rules would apply in teaching people, is my belief. You would need to teach at the pace that suits you.

Depending on the affiliate product, there will be different ways of getting paid, this is normally set up when you create your affiliate accounts Mike. Paypal is one of the most widely used methods of payment.
