How To Set Up A Free Website

by Sean Rasmussen on September 22, 2009

On this video I show you How To Set Up A Free Website. Get in on the action now. There are 3 video’s on this page so make sure to bookmark this page and come back to soak up all the knowledge you need.

First, the next part of the Darling Harbour interview with Alexi:

The video is currently offline, it'll be back shortly.

After you watch it please leave me a comment below and let me know what you learned. I will outline a few points for you below to make it much easier for you to set up your free website. Enjoy the video’s!

The 3 Blog Platforms & my platform mentioned in the video are:

  1. Blogger
  2. Blogspot (is now under the umbrella of Blogger)
  3. WordPress
  4. UWCBlog

None of these are really better than the other. The main thing is your preference. I prefer WordPress and that is the platform I chose for UWCBlog.

VIDEO 1: Setting Up Your Free Blog

I suppose if I’m going to show you how to set up a free website, I better give you one first. Check out this video for step by step instructions on getting started right now.

The video is currently offline, it'll be back shortly.

This is your link to signup for your Free Blog (this link has expired)

VIDEO 2: Set Up Beginners Guide

This is a short set up guide for your new Free Blog. Please watch this video as many times as it takes to learn. I will leave it here long enough for you to come back over the next few weeks to learn plenty.

The video is currently offline, it'll be back shortly.

From these 2 video’s you can see that it only takes 15-20 minutes to set up a blog from scratch (with practice). You can learn this as well as anyone else. Get in there and practice.

In the above video I promised you to make a tutorial for you so you can put Google Adsense in your blog, should you want to. Expect a step by step video about Google Adsense very soon.

Please jump into the comments below and give me feedback so I can help you learn affiliate marketing :)

See you soon.

Dear Sir, thank you so much for the free lecture. Our intent is a Ministry whereby a Foundation and Church organisation are involved. The sight of the scorpions on the screen gives us a double mind. We don’t know if your services are for the generality of the public of for a specific group.

However, we enjoyed ur video

Thank you

Hi Asuquo
They are Dragons, from the Chinese Zodiac. It is a business logo for Year Of the Affiliate (a play with the Bruce Lee movie: Year Of The Dragon). There is no group involved at all. Just me and myself. Thanks for enjoying the video’s.

Did someone say Dragon? Hi Asuquo, I am one of the moderators from the Year of the Affiliate forum which Sean has founded. I think you may like this picture of me better than the ones on the cover of the book. Glad you enjoyed the video’s.

Hi Wayne, yes, a blogger writes a blog pretty much like this one here. Generally you begin with text and once you learn how to, you can add images and video’s like Sean has done here.

Is there anyway to have multiple UWCblogs using the same email address?
I would like to bring across another 2 blogs into your platform.

Hi Sean,
Excellent videos mate. Quick question: can we change the name of our blog at a later stage if we are not sure on what type of blog or topic we want to set up yet?

Reply

Dragon September 22, 2009 at 10:47 pm

Hi Terry, yes you can change the name of your blog at anytime remembering though that the URL will not change with it. You might consider using your name perhaps and work with that for whichever topic you wish to write about.

Still working through the ebook, but the videos are fantastic. They help to confirm, what I’m doing or have done is correct. Mate, thanks so much.
By the way, are you going to remove these videos once the completed version of the book is released, since there are videos in the book??? I hope not.
Also, I applied to become an affiliate for YOTA but haven’t received any communication from you. I’m travelling overseas for 5 weeks within the next 2 weeks and wanted to get the website and affiliate products set up before I go. I especially wanted the YOTA affiliate link setup because I believe it’s going to sell like hotcakes!!!
Please can you let me know what’s happening with my application. Thanks.
You’ll be the first to know if I’ve made money when I return in Nov.

Good luck with the launch…Suresh.

Hi Sean,
I’ve create the website but now need to populate it with content and links. I’ve tried to use the affiliate support link to get the following questions answered but an error occurs, so not sure if it’s fully functional yet. Anyway, hope you can answer them here:

(i) Where do I copy & paste the html code for the banners, available in Promo Tools?
(ii) Do I have to cloak the link within the html code, or is it not visible?
(iii) In my affiliate account, the 2 links are not listed for reports. When will this be set up?
(iv) In addition to earning comms for book sales through the links provided, is there an affiliate program for referrals to your website ie comms earned for when visitors sign up?

To help me with content for the website, will you be covering article / blog writing in your videos? My greatest need at the moment is inserting banners and links into the website for different products. Hope you can help soon.
Thanks,
Suresh.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 24, 2009 at 11:05 pm

Hi Suresh
(i) I am currently changing over the banners etc to suit YOTA for the release.
(ii) No need to cloak the link if it is in the HTML code in a blogpost.
(iii) I believe that is working. You need to have the link clicked on atleast once for the report to work. This is the link:
http://www.webvision2020.com/admin/affiliates/reports/link
(iv) For now, there is only comms on the book.

Hi All.
I thought I’d better place an initial after my name to avoid confusion.
We Seans are as becoming as common as blue heelers and baggy green caps.
I’ve been finding the videos great. But, because I live in a region of Oz that does not support any form of fast internet connection other then satellite which gives me a download speed not much faster then dial up.. I’m finding them very difficult to watch, as each 3-5 minute video is taking up to 30 mins to load.
Therefore I have to ask whether future videos after launch will be in a downloadable format that can be saved to a hard drive for viewing later.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 23, 2009 at 12:32 pm

Sure mate. I will consider doing that. Let me ponder on it for a few days and I’ll see what I can do.

Hi, Sean,

I guess you may not be viewing this page anymore as you are busy preparing the launch of your new YOTA. However, I am now concerned using wordpress for affiliate programmes is not allowed.

And here are some examples of blogs that are banned from WordPress.com (all of these fall under the general heading of “spam blogs”, or splogs, and will be deleted as soon as we find them or they get reported):
* Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs and get-rich-quick schemes (”Make six figures from home!!”, “20 easy steps to top profits!!”, etc). This includes multi-level marketing (MLM) blogs and pyramid schemes.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen September 27, 2009 at 1:05 pm

Hello Tess,
Yes there are affiliate marketers that purely use spam techniques in creating free blogs without creating any real value. However, if you are using these free services to promote products while still creating value to your readers, they have no reason to ban your site. That is unless you break one of their other rules.

One question I did have with the uwcblog is how I access the WordPress.com stats plugin. I get prompted to enter in an API key (whatever that means). The link in the admin section of my blog just takes me to http://en.wordpress.com/profile/). The WordPress.com help pages seem to indicate that these get handed out on registration. I just want to see if I have had anyone visit as yet (I know I checked out a couple of others’ uwc blogs before starting mine).

Thanks for getting me started!

The best thing to do, is experiment. Take a look at other blogs you like online and see what type of widgets they are using, you may choose to use some of those yourself. Once you do have some widgets set up, you will find most of them are self explanatory and quite simple to use. If you have trouble, do a Google search for the widget and I am sure you will find plenty of information. Good luck mate!

Brand new to this. I noticed the time frame you encountered to become successful in replacing your income and how long it may have taken working on this full time. I’m unemployed. How quickly might I make this work and replace what I USED to make? I invite you to watch should you be interested. Being from New York, I’ld like to be able to look back at this as a “New York Minute”. Currently, I’m looking for that “ladder” to climb in affiliate marketing.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen May 6, 2010 at 12:39 pm

Hi Fred,
Your question is not something that can be answered easily. People learn and apply information at different rates, some people learn quickly and take action on what they learn (and also focus on the job at hand). It can take others longer to grasp the techniques and they may fail to focus or take action. What I can say with confidence, is that the system does work and if you are prepared to put in time and effort, there is no reason it cannot work for you. The amount of time it will take you to replace your income lies with one person…you ;-)

Reply

Fred May 7, 2010 at 11:45 am

Thank you Sean,

I expect to have to work at it, I didn’t learn my former jobs in one go. Garage door installer and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and rebuilder. I spent a total of 26 years doing that. I’m ready to build what I couldn’t the past 26 years. Wastewater plants work 24/7, so do garage doors. Why can’t my income do the same.

Reply

Sean Rasmussen May 10, 2010 at 11:40 am

The word “can’t” doesn’t form part of my vocabulary Fred ;-) If you want something bad enough, and you are prepared to put in the time, effort and dedication required to make it happen, there is no reason you cannot achieve your goals.

Hi Sean
I recently saw your presentation at the Brisbane UA marketing event which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Since then I found your videos & have found them a great prompt for further action. You have made the suggestion that it is possible to develop a significant monthly income within the course of a year, what is necessary to achieve this goal?
What kind of skills, expereince, tools, support, etc would you recommend?
I have been involved in traditional, service based small business but the flexibility of working from home & controlling my income is attractive.
At this point I would like to be able to put a plan together to move from where I am now to replacing my income with internet marketing.

What would you sugget to me?

Thanks

Terry

Hi Terry

It is certainly possible to achieve success within a 12 month period. The level of that success could be determined by many things, some of which would be:

Commitment to learn
How much time you can allocate to learning
Taking action on what you learn
Having access to the right training and support

I have a program that provides all you are likely to need as far as training and support goes. It’s what you do with that training and support that will determine your level of success ;)

You can take a look at my program here if you wish to find out further information :) .

Hey Sean, you might want to consider deleting Myron’s link. Not family friendly, if you catch my drift.
