Why Your Online Business Needs A Tagline

Online Business Tag LineDoes your online business have a tagline? If not, there is no better time than the present to create one.

Take a page from the advertising manual of major corporations throughout the world that regularly use taglines to brand their name and their products. An internet business is no different.

Why A Tagline?

A tagline accomplishes several things. For one, it is an excellent form of branding, that is creating an element that consumers will see and immediately associate with your company.

For another, it gives people an idea of what your business is all about, whether it is your focus on excellent customer service, the quality of your products, or a pricing guarantee. And finally, a tagline can be just one more way of utilising keywords for good SEO.

Writing A Good Tagline

Take a moment to think about some major corporations and the taglines they have created. When you think of common brands and instantly know their tagline, that’s a clear indication that the corporation has done an excellent job of branding.

Your own tagline should tell people something about your company and what they can expect when they buy a product or service from you.

The tagline is an excellent place to include a keyword. In the case of Woolworths in Australia, they use the phrase “fresh food”. Google the phrase “fresh food Australia” and you will find that the Woolworths website appears on the first page – great SEO!

Using The Tagline Effectively

After you’ve developed an appropriate and catchy tagline for your online business, use it. Make it part of your logo, add it to the header on every page of your website, and include it in all the promotional items you develop.

Think outside the box to be sure you take advantage of every opportunity for branding with your tagline. Put it on the return address labels you use on envelopes and shipping cartons. Add it to your business cards. Include it in your email signature line. Create its own page on your website where you can talk about how you developed the line and how it relates to your business.

Do not underestimate the importance of a tagline. Often, people will remember a concise and relevant blurb over and above anything else you use for marketing and advertising your online business.
